Becoming a mom can be one of the most exciting times in a woman’s life but it can also be one of the hardest. When I first became a mom, I struggled much more than I expected to. I had been working as a play therapist, telling other moms how to parent for years. So I thought I knew what I was doing. Little did I know, nothing can really prepare you for parenthood as well as experience.
There are times along the way when I’ve realized that I wasn’t the only one struggling with something and I immediately felt relief. Realizing this gave me the passion to help other moms by showing them that they aren’t alone.
I earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in 2006 and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My experience includes working as an intake counselor at Ridgeview Institute, providing intensive family intervention services, utilization review for managed care, forensic interviewing & therapy at a children’s shelter, and providing play therapy in a private practice setting.
I practice from a person-centered perspective meaning I value each client’s ability to discover solutions to their struggles while I serve as their guide. I use cognitive behavioral techniques when appropriate to help clients understand how their thoughts are connected to their behavior and then empower them to make measurable changes in their daily lives. Together we can help you live a more fulfilled life!
